Sir David Frederick Attenborough OM (London, 8 May 1926 -) English naturalist, documentary filmmaker and pioneer of educational television. He graduated from Cambridge University and the London School of Economics, and since 1957 has made nature films and series for the BBC television, most famously the nine-part Life series, which gives a comprehensive picture of life on Earth. He was also Director of Programmes at the BBC in the 1960s and 1970s.
